Premise
Candy Montgomery is a 1980 housewife and mother who did everything right—good husband, two kids, nice house, even the careful planning and execution of transgressions—but when the pressure of conformity builds within her, her actions scream for just a bit of freedom. With deadly results.
About this Series
Three-time Emmy nominee Robin Veith (“Mad Men,” “The Act”) wrote the pilot script and is executive producer. Nick Antosca (“The Act,” “Brand New Cherry Flavor”) is too executive producer under his banner Eat the Cat along with Alex Hedlund. Jessica Biel and Michelle Purple (“The Sinner,” “Cruel Summer”) are also executive producers for Iron Ocean. Michael Uppendahl (“Fargo,” “American Crime Story: Impeachment”) directed the pilot. Jim Atkinson and John Bloom are consulting producers. The series is from UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, and 20th Television, one of the Disney Television Studios.

Jessica Biel is an Emmy-nominated actor and producer known for her acclaimed roles in “The Sinner,” “Limetown,” “The Illusionist,” “Hitchcock” and dozens of other feature films and TV series. As a producer and co-founder of Iron Ocean Productions, Biel’s work includes the anthology series “The Sinner,” which earned her Emmy, Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice Award nominations for Best Actress as well as nominations for her role as executive producer.
Currently, Biel is in production on Hulu’s true crime limited series “Candy,” in which she stars as infamous ax killer Candy Montgomery. Biel and her producing partner, Michelle Purple, serve as executive producers under the Iron Ocean banner. Biel also serves as an executive producer for the ‘90s-set thriller “Cruel Summer,” which set ratings records for the Freeform network and recently won Best Cable Drama Series from the Hollywood Critics Association.
Biel and Purple formed Iron Ocean Productions in 2007 with the mission to tell powerful stories that enhance female voices for all audiences. Past projects also include the Facebook Watch series “Limetown,” which starred Biel and Stanley Tucci; and the film “The Book of Love” starring Biel, Jason Sudeikis and Maisie Williams. In 2021, Biel and Purple were included in Variety’s prestigious TV Producers Impact Report.
An accomplished actor on the big and small screens, Biel’s films have earned more than $800 million at the box office worldwide. Movie credits include HITCHCOCK; THE ILLUSIONIST; NEW YEAR’S EVE; VALENTINE’S DAY; and THE A-TEAM.

A normal day in the life of Texas housewife Candy Montgomery is interrupted by a beguiling incident. Meanwhile, Allan Gore, away on business, tries to contact his eerily absent wife Betty.
S1 Episode 102 ‘Happy Wife, Happy Life’
Two years before the incident, Candy and Betty are shocked when their beloved pastor Jackie announces her divorce. Candy considers her own love life, while Betty takes on a troubled foster child.
S1 Episode 103 ‘Overkill’
Candy and Allan’s affair begins. Betty is pregnant and finds a surprising source of support in Candy. Betty and Allan become closer while attending Marriage Encounter.
S1 Episode 104 ‘Cover Girl’
The day after the incident, Candy takes part in the ongoing investigation into the murder of Betty Gore. As more evidence comes to light, Candy hires ambulance-chaser attorney Don Crowder.
S1 Episode 105 ‘The Fight’
The “Trial of the Century” begins in Collin County Courthouse. Aided by Don’s bombastic style, Candy fights to tell her story. The jury of her peers deliberates on Candy’s fate.
