Inside the World’s Toughest Prisons is a Netflix documentary series presented by Raphael Rowe.
Would you like to see how the most dangerous inmates in the world live? This reality show, now in its seventh season, takes us on a journey through the most dangerous prisons in the world.
This time: Finland, the European country with the highest murder rate; Czech Republic, where even the fish have traces of methamphetamine in their bodies; Indonesia, with a rigorous anti-drug program that imposes ten-year sentences for drug possession; and the Solomon Islands, where we will encounter the most dangerous sex offenders.
It’s quite a journey!
About Season 7
Just like in previous seasons, it’s a fascinating exploration into the world of the most dangerous criminals. The host of the series, a former convict wrongly sentenced to life imprisonment, will live with them for a week and experience their way of life. Alongside a camera, he will reveal the intricacies of the prison systems in these countries.
Interesting? Absolutely. It’s an unmissable reality show if you’re interested in seeing the world, this time in its most dangerous form, and learning about the penitentiary systems of these countries.
We will have the opportunity to live with the inmates and learn about their rules. For example, in the Czech Republic, where methamphetamine is a plague, prisoners are not allowed to smoke in their cells.
This series practically creates itself, as it leaves us speechless at every turn while the prisoners recount their terrible crimes: kidnappings, rapes. . even a prisoner who, unable to control his anger, killed his own child.
It’s truly shocking.
About Season 6
Season six of ‘Inside the World’s Toughest Prisons’ has four episodes. Each episode will take us to a prison in a particular country, in this installment of the series Rowe shows us prisons in Moldova, Cyprus, Bosnia and Greece. Raphael Rowe will be our guide, as he has been since season two. Season one was presented by the Irish investigative reporter Paul Dermot Connolly, who toured prisons in the Philippines, Mexico and Poland.
In previous seasons with Rowe we saw prison life in the Philippines, Greenland, Germany, Mauritius, Lesotho, Colombia, Romania, Norway, Ukraine, Papua New Guinea and Belize.
The contrasts in the standards of prisons in say Greenland stand in stark contrast to others, which is only makes the docu-series all the more interesting, and actually provides us with food for thought.
It is a brutally sincere show that will not be to the liking of more sensitive souls or people who are in the mood for say, a comedy.
The topic of prisons has gained traction on TV and streaming platforms these past years, both as works of fiction and documentaries. Obviously, it is a theme that intrigues many who are curious to know about these institutions, maybe among them are aspiring prison wardens. Something tells me that there will be more seasons to come.
