Netflix has released “Khakee: The Bengal Chapter”, a gritty crime thriller that plunges viewers into the heart of Calcutta’s underworld. Created by Neeraj Pandey, this standalone sequel to “Khakee: The Bihar Chapter” offers a panoramic view of the fight against crime, the criminal gangs operating in the city, and the intricacies surrounding it all.
Set in the vibrant West Bengal of the early 2000s, the series follows IPS officer Arjun Maitra, played by the charismatic actor Jeet. His mission: to dismantle the deep-rooted nexus between gangsters and politicians who have called the shots for far too long. “Khakee: The Bengal Chapter” is Netflix’s new thriller from India: a portrait of Calcutta’s streets and the criminal world in the 2000s, and the struggle to eradicate criminal groups.
The Actors
The series boasts a cast that reads like a who’s who of Bengali cinema. Alongside Jeet are heavyweights Prosenjit Chatterjee and Saswata Chatterjee, marking the first on-screen collaboration between Jeet and Prosenjit. This ensemble is rounded out by Parambrata Chatterjee, Ritwik Bhowmik, and Chitrangada Singh, among others.

It tries to understand these two sides to ultimately look elsewhere, at the political side and the corruption that stems from political parties, who are the ones that really come off worse in this series’ vision.
Directors Debatma Mandal and Tushar Kanti Ray attempt to capture the rhythm and essence of the city, serving as a character in its own right.
“Khakee: The Bengal Chapter” is the first Hindi series to be simultaneously released in Hindi and Bengali on Netflix, allowing it to reach a wider audience and showcasing the platform’s commitment to regional content.
