The beloved team of reformed criminals is back as Leverage: Redemption gears up for its third season, bringing their unique brand of justice back to the screen. This season marks a notable shift for the series, moving from its previous ad-supported home on Freevee to the main Prime Video streaming service.
Season 3 will consist of 10 episodes. The first three will premiere simultaneously on the launch date, followed by a weekly release schedule every Thursday.
Background: From Leverage to Redemption
The original Leverage series, which aired on TNT from 2008 to 2012, introduced audiences to Nate Ford (Timothy Hutton), a brilliant former insurance investigator disillusioned by corporate greed. He assembled a team of highly skilled criminals: Sophie Devereaux (Gina Bellman), the Grifter; Eliot Spencer (Christian Kane), the Hitter; Parker (Beth Riesgraf), the Thief; and Alec Hardison (Aldis Hodge), the Hacker. Together, they used their illicit talents to pull off elaborate cons against the corrupt and powerful who preyed on the innocent, providing “leverage” for the little guy.
Leverage: Redemption picks up the story years later, serving as a direct sequel. Set roughly one year after Nate Ford’s presumed death, the series sees Sophie Devereaux come out of retirement to reassemble the core team. They are joined by Harry Wilson (Noah Wyle), a corporate lawyer seeking redemption for his past work defending the very villains the team now targets, and Breanna Casey (Aleyse Shannon), Hardison’s tech-savvy foster sister, who steps in as the team’s hacker while Hardison focuses on global initiatives. Establishing their new base of operations in New Orleans, the team continues their mission, adapting their methods but retaining the core essence of fighting for those the system fails.
Meet the Team (and New Faces)
The heart of Leverage has always been its ensemble cast, and Season 3 features the core team intact. Returning are Gina Bellman as Sophie Devereaux, the master grifter who has stepped into the mastermind role; Christian Kane as Eliot Spencer, the formidable hitter with surprising depth; Beth Riesgraf as Parker, the uniquely skilled and eccentric thief; and Aleyse Shannon as Breanna Casey, the brilliant young hacker.
Fan favorites Aldis Hodge as Alec Hardison and Noah Wyle as Harry Wilson will also appear, albeit in recurring or guest roles. Hodge’s availability has been impacted by his starring role in Prime Video’s Cross, while Wyle is starring in the series The Pitt.
Season 3 also boasts a lineup of notable guest stars, including Jack Coleman, Drew Powell, Alex Boniello, Cedric Yarbrough, Mary Hollis Inboden, Sam Witwer, and Rachael Harris. Additionally, Noah Wyle’s real-life daughter, Auden Wyle, will reprise her role as Harry’s daughter, Becky.
What to Expect in Season 3
The team will face off against a powerful tycoon stealing drinking water, a corrupt small-town mayor acting as judge and jury, a pool hustler running an international extortion ring, and an industrialist exploiting child labor. Adding to the pressure, the team must also deal with a target catching them mid-con and confront an enemy from Season 1 seeking revenge.
This third season will pay special attention to Parker, with showrunner Dean Devlin describing it as the most Parker-centric season yet. Other characters continue their journeys as well. Sophie Devereaux navigates her relationship with her stepdaughter, Interpol agent Astrid, while cautiously opening herself up to the possibility of dating again, years after Nate’s death. Eliot Spencer, having reconciled with his estranged father in Season 2, continues to grapple with his violent past, focusing less on redemption (which he perhaps sees as unattainable) and more on consistently doing good to counteract his past actions. Meanwhile, Breanna Casey contemplates attending college, adding another layer to her character’s growth.
Behind the Scenes: Creative and Production Team
A significant behind-the-scenes development for Season 3 is the return of John Rogers, co-creator of the original Leverage series, as showrunner. Rogers, who served as a consulting producer on the first two seasons of Leverage: Redemption, steps into the lead creative role.
Dean Devlin, executive producer on both the original series and the revival, continues in his role, alongside original co-creator Chris Downey, Marc Roskin, and Rachel Olschan-Wilson. Joining the creative leadership are stars Gina Bellman, Christian Kane, and Beth Riesgraf, who also serve as executive producers for Season 3, reflecting their deep involvement with the show.
