Bandidos is a series created by Pablo Tébar starring Alfonso Dosal, Ester Expósito and Luis Gerardo Méndez.
A Mexican comedy series that effectively uses the popularity of its two main stars, Ester Expósito and Alfonso Dosal, to create a classic and entertaining story with a great sense of humor. While not a grand production like Indiana Jones, “Bandidos” still manages to entertain and stay true to its relaxed and laid-back style, appealing to a less demanding audience. However, for an adventure series, it lacks more spectacular action scenes. Overall, it fulfills its purpose of entertaining and being family-friendly, blending adventure and con artist genres.
Plot
Four swindlers, each with their own skills, form a fun group with a plan to obtain a treasure. Led by Miguel, an aspiring archaeologist who has resorted to forging antiques and scamming tourists until he stumbles upon a map and convinces three accomplices to join him in a risky plan full of adventures.
About the Series
A series of adventures that combines elements from various genres (comedy, action, romance, and thriller) and adds a touch of nostalgia for adventure lovers, always keeping the audience entertained. The series relies more on dialogue and comedic situations rather than action scenes. “Bandidos” will hook the viewer with its romantic relationships, intrigue, and its main character (Miguel), with his romantic nature and classic spirit that prevents him from giving up on his dream (to become a treasure hunter).
Miguel’s character is well supported by a cast of characters that manage to play their part, keeping the audience entertained, but not necessarily surprised by the script or the treatment of the scenes. The production quality is good, with more focus on the sets rather than CGI effects. The series, although not outstanding, manages to fulfill its purpose and, above all, showcase its stars and give them the necessary spotlight.
At the forefront, and perhaps even above Alfonso Dosal, is Spanish actress Ester Expósito, a model who excels in her role and once again captures all the attention with her impeccable portrayal of the femme fatale. “Bandidos” is full of references to great films, but it does not aim to imitate them, nor does it have hundreds of millions of dollars to offer spectacular scenes. However, within its modest means, it succeeds in entertaining and amusing the audience and providing a good time.
Our Opinion
A series that entertains without standing out too much. It is a bet on Mexican talent in the world of streaming on Netflix that effectively leverages the commercial appeal of its two main stars, Ester Expósito and Alfonso Dosal.
