Everything seems perfect, right? Not quite. On the day of her coronation as the dance queen, her life gets ruined when her boyfriend sends a bathroom selfie to his friends. Cindy loses her crown, her boyfriend, and her popularity hits rock bottom. Will she be able to recover?
On these parameters, we are presented with “Cindy la Regia: The High School Years,” this new Mexican series that we can enjoy on Netflix. Within its premise, it’s quite decent, especially in terms of production, with careful cinematography, good settings, framing, and staging.
It’s a well-produced series from Mexico with a youthful aesthetic… only for teenagers.

Without expecting to rediscover cinema, it does a perfect job of speaking in a language that teenagers understand about topics that interest them: community acceptance, sexuality, friendship… yes, it’s a bit of the same old story without rediscovering particle physics, but it is a very elegant series, aesthetically pleasing, and with great respect for its characters.

It swims in the waters of adolescence, keeping enough distance to not take itself too seriously. A very well-produced series that takes us to Mexico and tells us, once again, a bit of the same old story, but with style, aesthetic, and good storytelling.
Nothing new, but a series made with care and great efficiency in all its technical aspects.
