Cindy la Regia: The High School Years - Netflix

Cindy la Regia: The High School Years  is a teen comedy series starring Michelle Pellicer. With Vincent Michael Webb, Nahuel Escobar, Carola Cuarón, and Luciana Vale. It is based on the comic by Ricardo Cucamonga.

Cindy is popular, charismatic, and very, very beautiful. Besides, she has a charming, blonde boyfriend and a perfect family. She also dedicates her free time to charitable causes. Everything seems perfect, right? Not quite. On the day of her coronation as the dance queen, her life gets ruined when her boyfriend sends a bathroom selfie to his friends. Cindy loses her crown, her boyfriend, and her popularity hits rock bottom. Will she be able to recover?

On these parameters, we are presented with “Cindy la Regia: The High School Years,” this new Mexican series that we can enjoy on Netflix. Within its premise, it’s quite decent, especially in terms of production, with careful cinematography, good settings, framing, and staging.

It’s a well-produced series from Mexico with a youthful aesthetic… only for teenagers.

About the series “Cindy la Regia: The High School Years”

“Cindy la Regia: The High School Years” is a series for teenagers, which have existed since the early days of television and will continue to exist, no matter how silly they may seem once we reach adulthood. These series serve their purpose very well, talking about teenagers and, for better or worse, enchanting an audience that seeks to see themselves reflected in the characters.

“Cindy la Regia: The High School Years” is by no means the worst of these series. It has well-defined characters, is well-produced, and pays attention to detail. Without expecting to rediscover cinema, it does a perfect job of speaking in a language that teenagers understand about topics that interest them: community acceptance, sexuality, friendship… yes, it’s a bit of the same old story without rediscovering particle physics, but it is a very elegant series, aesthetically pleasing, and with great respect for its characters.

“Cindy la Regia: The High School Years” is neither a comedy nor a drama and knows how to position itself in the realm of lightness. It swims in the waters of adolescence, keeping enough distance to not take itself too seriously. It relaxes the situations when necessary, but above all, it takes the characters seriously and tells us a coherent story with good storytelling.

Our opinion

A very well-produced series that takes us to Mexico and tells us, once again, a bit of the same old story, but with style, aesthetic, and good storytelling.

Nothing new, but a series made with care and great efficiency in all its technical aspects.
