In the Name of God: A Holy Betrayal is a South Korean documentary series directed by Jo Seong-Hyeon.

An eight-episode docu-series about four so-called prophets who used religion to deceive their disciples and carry out all kinds of abuses, rapes and so on.

We don’t know if this qualifies as true-crime, but if you feel like souring your Friday by reliving tales of physical and psychological abuse by these four people… well, here you have this docu-series called In the Name of God: Sacred Betrayal.

About the series

A very good documentary, a remarkably well-researched work about these four people who abused religion and, above all, the good intentions and naivety of their disciples that serves Netflix well to fit in with their proposition and give us such a nasty vision of the world that it will leave us, no doubt, with an incredibly bad taste in our mouths.

Documented to the point of satiety, almost eight hours long for a documentary which you have to be very keen on, and which, beyond its obvious denunciation and documentary value , few will feel like getting up close and personal with.

Netflix had gone a while without offering us these true-crime documentaries, but it seems that this week it has robustly resumed them (The Fourniret Case was aired a couple of days ago) and very energetically indeed.
