Kübra is a new series starring Çagatay Ulusoy, Aslihan Malbora, and Ahsen Eroglu. It is based on the novel by Afsin Kum.

“Kübra” is a psychological thriller series that delves into the characters’ psychological aspects rather than offering a typical Hollywood action series. It takes us on a journey through the protagonist’s internal struggles and uncertainties, guiding us to uncover the truth hidden beneath the mysterious signals that bear a name: Kübra.

Plot

Gökhan starts receiving strange messages on his phone through a religiously-themed app. Our protagonist, who has just returned from war after saving a child, believes he has a mission to fulfill. As his situation and circumstances gradually become more complicated, he begins to see himself as a healer.

About the Series

Different, intriguing, and withholding its true intentions until later than expected, “Kübra” is a series that conceals itself and refuses to reveal its true nature from the very beginning. It does not fit neatly into the thriller genre, nor does it present itself solely as a psychological or horror film, or an intimate series. It has elements of all these genres but refuses to confine itself to their conventions.

It knows how to play with the viewer, introducing the main plots and defining the characters gradually and almost sparingly. It will take a while to fully immerse ourselves in its narrative, to understand the character, and even longer to develop the necessary empathy for a character who carries virtually all of the plot’s dramatic depth.

The series undoubtedly carries a moral discourse but also manages to distance itself from a simple narration, presenting the complexity of the protagonist’s personal evolution. Enveloped in a thriller and a troubled past, the protagonist becomes entangled in an almost paranoid conspiracy that blends faith, technology, and corruption.

Our Opinion

A thriller to be savored slowly, its value lies more in the script than the technical aspects.

It possesses a notable virtue: it manages to distinguish itself from other series and become special through its rhythmic, scenic, and dramatic treatment.
