The Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker is a documentary directed by Colette Camden.
Kai, the homeless hitchhiker, who had the “it factor” that mesmerized the media and audiences back in the day, for a short while, after he was interviewed by a reporter having saved a woman from an attack by bludgeoning the attacker.
The snippet went viral, and Kai became the hero du jour. Wanted by everybody in the media, to then become wanted by the police.
About the Documentary
The protagonist, Kai, the multi-talented homeless hitchhiker, who became a viral sensation, and was offered a number of gigs in TV, and yet, like a true Diogenes refused to accept any of them. Until he did.
Clearly, something was off. The man had just attacked a person with his hatchet, recounting it calmly, and signing it off with “Smash! Smash! Smash!”.
The media folk were looking for the next big personality to build a media sensation. Many of them are interviewed in this documentary, and they will recount how this young man, Kai, was acting erratically. It is strange that they did not pick up on the fact that he was not as much fun as they had expected.
