The Masked Scammer – A Netflix Documentary – A True Crime about An ‘Artful’ Scammer

The Masked Scammer is a true crime documentary directed by Dominic Sivyer and Yvann Yagchi.

It tells the story of Gilbert Chikli, a criminal who scammed millions of euros in France, thanks to his charm, seductive ways and his cunning, but especially thanks to his talent for theatrics.

A documentary that has all the mystery of a faceless man, who managed to take on many roles,and who turned his gift for the theatrics into quite an art… of scamming.

France has its own codes, its own heroes and its idiosyncrasies, which now includes Gilbert Chikli to complete the iconography in line with Arsène Lupin (the literary version, of course), scamming on a large scale the French elite.

‘The Masked Scammer’ is a straightforward documentary that plays a bit with “what it has”, thanks to the interviews with the authors of the crimes, it explains how they carried out their schemes, and that counts on, particularly, interviews with some of the women who assisted in the scams, when indeed, they themselves were the victims.
