Tyler Perry presents us with a legal drama featuring a very personal and controversial case. Tyler Perry’s usual talent for drama and stirring consciences is now applied to a police case: negligence or a racist crime?
Mystery, controversy, and an intricate legal case of the kind that always works. Police officers, lawyers, and in the middle, a television presenter who has seen her husband die.

About the Movie
Tyler Perry knows how to create big hits starting from controversial premises, and “Duplicity” is no exception: it’s a mix of social controversy and racial drama that, cleverly blended with mystery and thriller elements, gives us one of those entertaining movies that, nevertheless, doesn’t quite convince everyone.
After some adaptations for Netflix not without controversy, “Duplicity” represents another chapter in Perry’s television dramas, which seeks controversy above all and almost always knows where to find it. If you’re looking for complex characters or philosophical plots, perhaps “Duplicity” isn’t the best option.
But we have to give Perry credit for his talent in creating productions that appeal to the public and, although they may be for immediate consumption, contain what the audience demands and deal with current and always controversial topics.
“Duplicity” is neither the best legal drama we can watch nor the best thriller of the year, but it’s a perfect movie for his fans, giving them once again what’s expected from a Tyler Perry film: a controversial thriller with melodramatic touches and a plot that, although confusing in some parts, gives the audience what they’re waiting for.
Enjoy it.
