Untold: The Rise and Fall of AND1 is a Netflix documentary from the Untold series that, as you may know, tells the lesser-known secret stories of sport.
AND1 is what you say when you make a basket and you have to call a foul and, as a claim, you exclaim “and 1” to ask for the extra shot.
Storyline
AND1 made New York’s streetball stars famous. However, and without anyone predicting it, the brand came to an end.
About the Documentary
We love Untold and we love his style and that of telling the hidden side of sport, the one that nobody tells. Each chapter, a theme. This time, a company that started selling T-shirts and became a basketball icon by making decisions outside the established norm and competing with the brand that sponsored Michael Jordan.
How did they do it? The documentary gives many keys to the business as told by the founders themselves and then I tell how, overnight, this huge business collapsed.
Again, very interesting, no matter if they talk about match fixing, sexuality in sports or other stories, this series maintains its high level.
Of course, if you like basketball you will enjoy it even more, because it goes beyond the NBA and obviously gets more into the street sport, much closer.
