Delving into socioeconomic problems with paintings of psychological dreamscapes, Opoku’s current work focuses on water scarcity of her home in Accra. Through an abstract, ethereal body of work including paintings, installations, and sound, the spectator is invited to indulge in a multi-sensory experience carefully constructed by Opoku. Not only does the work encapsulate her own ritualistic experience of collecting water with her mother and sister, but also creates an immersive exploration into the cross-generational tradition of gathering water at midnight.
