Los Angeles – On September 27, Bonhams will present more than a dozen prints by Richard Diebenkorn (1922-1993) including his largest and most important, Green, at its Prints & Multiples sale in Los Angeles. Crafted in 1986 in collaboration with the Bay Area print shop, Crown Point Press, Green, which is related to Diebenkorn’s iconic Ocean Park painting series, was a challenging, experimental, time-consuming project as the final printing took seven plates, three different greens and five printers to complete. The work is a true collaboration between Diebenkorn and the printers as their ingenuity and mastery of the medium allowed him to push the boundaries of the technique and bring his ambitious vision to life. It is estimated at $400,000 – 600,000.
