Taking place during the early 1990s, a time of heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, this movie explores the intricate world of espionage. Tabu portrays the character of Krishna Mehra, who balances the demands of her career and personal life becomes a challenge for Mehra as she confronts a complex web of deception while undertaking a mission to capture the mole.
Review of Khufiya
“Khufiya” is a film that stands out for being based on a novel written by a former Indian intelligence agent, ensuring its accuracy in terms of documentation. In this regard, it depicts the world of espionage in a fairly coherent manner, blending the personal story of the main character with (which is what interests us) a conspiracy involving espionage in the tumultuous political landscape of the 1990s.
“Khufiya” pays attention to detail and maintains a fast-paced, almost frenetic thriller rhythm, reminiscent of spy movies with numerous characters that can be confusing and challenging to follow due to their intricate plot.
This is its strong point: the pacing, the narrative complexity, and the ability to create a sense of chaos for the viewer, immersing them in a world of spies, secrets, and conspiracies.
The film adheres to the genre’s conventions and does so effectively, boasting high production values and appropriate cinematic treatment.
Talented actress Tabu delivers a strong performance, skillfully portraying this complex character at the center of a convoluted story.
Our Opinion
“Khufiya” is a solid spy thriller that comes to us from Bollywood, offering a chance to firsthand explore the espionage network that operated in the 1990s and gain a deeper understanding of the complex and fascinating country that is India.
