Love Goals is a 2022 Bollywood rom-com directed by Sameer Saxena. Starring Jitendra Kumar.
It if both funny and entertaining.
Synopsis
Meenu, a small-time magician, has to muster up his yet undiscovered athletic virtue and, together with his football team, win the local tournament if he wants to marry the love of his life. What doesn’t one do for love?
We look forward to a film with many funny moments, and a sweet love story that will make our hearts melt.
Movie Review
Love Goals, a film that makes humor and illusion its emblems, and soccer its leitmotiv tells us this intimate story, full of Bollywood-style colorful outbursts and that, in the end, gives this long (very long) production that special touch that distinguishes it from the rest of Bollywood movies.
A story full of color, ingenuity, feel-good moments. The good vibes are aplenty.
But, Bollywood has also internalized other styles, and knows what to select from other places. Clearly inspired by the series many watched as kids (Captain Tsubasa): the movie leans very much up against it, with a dialogue that is full of casual and silly commentary – retorts that will make the audience giggle.
It’s nice, not that it’s a marvel as far as cinema is concerned, but it’s funny; it’s narrated with rhythm and enthusiasm, has a good and light sense of humor, a lot of ingenuity, narrative simplicity, and the Bollywood touch, which will make it entertaining enough to have a shot at international success. Love Goals is a feature film for the whole family.
Treated more like a distended TV episode, with the simplicity of a “typical” script that always goes for what works rather than what is artistic. It is here to please and entertain, rather than to teach and challenge.
Our Opinion
Friendly and entertaining in a Bend It Like Beckham way, with a touch of magic, and Bollywood comedy cheer.
