Shazam! Fury of the Gods is a superheroes movie directed by David F. Sandberg starrrting Zachary Levi. With Helen Mirren, Lucy Liu and Rachel Zegler.

If the first one was “silly” and was a success precisely for that reason, this one strives to be even “sillier”.

And it succeeds!

Don’t take it seriously. Sit back and relax because this superhero comedy is one of the good “freaks” and does not pretend to be anything more than that: a standard blockbuster, the familiar ones, the ones with big budgets and few ideas, the ones that fill our dreams with special effects, and when we come back to reality, we say to ourselves: how boring.

A  genuine tribute to the eighties that knows how to take that spirit of inconsequentiality from the era and give us a “goofy” show that is this parody of Justice League which some have found better than Zack Snyder’s.

And maybe we have, too.

After three and a half seconds you’ve stopped thinking about the script, let’s be clear about that. Seven seconds in and you know that character introspection is conspicuous by its absence and that this is going to be one bad joke after another, with lots of effects, lots of hair gel.

When the two and a half hours of the movie are over (yes, you read that right) you’ll feel like buying that ball pool to install in your backyard that you’ve always secretly dreamed of having.

If you feel like being a bit of a kid again, it’s a good opportunity to let yourself be carried away by this highly lively, most trivial and deeply entertaining stupidity.
