Movie Review
A film that aims to do one thing: make a social portrait of an Italian-American family in the well-known neighborhood of New York. He wants to do it with sympathy, ce3rcanos characters and with a friendly tone that impregnates everything, with real characters and without going outside the rules. Does it succeed? Perfectly, goal achieved, achieved and three points, set and match…
Realistic and accomplished interpretations of the director himself, Laurie Metcalf and the great protagonist of the story, the young Jacob Ward around whose character and his history of basketball and romance revolves everything else.
Somewhere in Queens is a generational drama, a dramatic comedy full of endearing and sincere moments that, deep down, wants to accompany us more than tell us a great story that does not even care to look. It’s not boring, although that depends on what the viewer is looking for, which, if Indiana Jones wants, is in the wrong room.
It is a sincere, recognizable film, true but, above all, welcoming at all times.
It does not want to look for the artistic side, it is based more on the brilliant real interpretations of simple characters and dialogues.
Our Opinion
A film that makes, above all, of naturalness its great bet. It achieves it and, above all, achieves a pleasant company.
