‘Dusk’— which opens smoky and sensual, and ends as a towering psychedelic guitar shredder — sees an empire burning and dissipating, and a dusk before a new dawn. It’s a mythical love song, distorted and enrapturing, propelled by Wolfe’s sauntering vocals. “Branded, baptized/By your love and by your hunger” she sings in hushed tones, “And I would give you my life/One ‘sin’ leads to another/And I would go through the fire/To get to you.” Of the song, Wolfe comments, “The friends or lovers have gone through hell and back but are still and always united in the end by love, like pottery gone through the fire, broken and pieced back together.”
Produced by David Andrew Sitek of TV On The Radio and mixed by Shawn Everett (Slowdive, SZA, The War On Drugs), ‘Dusk’ was recorded by Derek Coburn at Federal Prism Studios and mastered by Heba Kadry. With lush production, it is intimate and expansive as the core band of Ben Chisholm (synth), Jess Gowrie (drums) and Bryan Tulao (lead guitar) support Wolfe’s delicate vocals.
‘Dusk’ marks Wolfe’s first new music for her new label home, and her first original music following her contributions to the score of 2022 A24 film X.
Alongside ‘Dusk,’ Wolfe unveils a lengthy 2024 North American tour, bringing her acclaimed live performance to a slew of cities including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto and beyond. Divide and Dissolve will support the entire tour. The full touring schedule, including ticket links, is view able here.
