World War II: From the Frontlines is a documentary miseries directed by Rob Coldstream. It is narrated by John Boyega.

Netflix presents this documentary, aiming to provide an immersive experience of World War II with restored and colored footage. It takes us to the frontline, accompanying the Americans in the liberation of Paris, the Red Army in the assault on Berlin, and more.

From the start, there are no doubts: the Luftwaffe’s attack on Warsaw captured from the aircrafts. Spectacular footage nonstop in a documentary that, rather than offering a historical analysis, aims to transport us to the battleground. We visit concentration camps and witness firsthand the horrors of war, not only in battles but also the aftermath of destruction.

Is it worth it? Absolutely, an essential documentary for history enthusiasts that will undoubtedly serve as a reference, especially in terms of archival content, with profoundly unforgettable images that gain even more significance with colorization.

The documentary includes a few interviews, but its strength lies in the images and human perspective: it is more a documentary about the horrors war inflicts on people and the stories they lived through than a tactical analysis.

Our Opinion

Another marvelous documentary on Netflix that is worth watching. This time, it presents the human perspective, placing us with the necessary perspective in the horrors of the battlefield and the human consequences of this terrible conflict.
