This time, it tells the story of Griselda Blanco, a woman who did everything to protect her family and, willing to create a new drug business, became one of the most powerful drug traffickers in the world.
The main attraction of the series is undoubtedly seeing Sofia Vergara in this highly dramatic role that, apart from her role in “Modern Family”, reveals a very versatile actress capable of evolving a character that starts with drama and becomes a true monster.
The story of this woman, nicknamed “The Black Widow”, is a Netflix bet for this winter that is slowly coming to an end.

Plot
Griselda flees from Medellin to start a new life in Miami. But not everything is new in the United States: a country full of compatriots who, in one way or another, are involved in a shady business. Pushed by circumstances, she decides to enter the drug business. Step by step, forced or not, she becomes one of the most important drug traffickers.
About the series
One of the highlights of this series is undoubtedly Sofía Vergara, who proves to be an outstanding dramatic actress. She is perfect for the role, handling both languages (she’s Colombian) and, in this first season, evolving a character who starts as a selfless mother and deteriorates into a ruthless drug lord.
It is a great series in terms of script, just like “Narcos,” a series that doesn’t judge but rather depicts the environment, immersing the viewer in this world of conspiracies and murders. Without justifying anything, but also without condemning it, the series manages to bring out the viewer’s most perverse side and, in a way, allows them to put themselves in the shoes of this dangerous woman who had to do anything and everything, first to save her family, and then to build a drug empire.
From a technical standpoint, the production is impressive. The series stands out in terms of setting and the excellent recreation of 1980s Miami. It has a good pace, not rushed, taking the time to analyze the characters and allowing the story to develop.
“Griselda” is not an action series; rather, it is a series of conspiracies and character psychology, supported by outstanding photography and performances that achieve everything they set out to do.
Does it repeat the formula of its creators’ great success? Definitely, but it tells a different story, and despite this rhythmic and thematic repetition, it also manages to have its own personality as a narrative.
The series consistently plays with the emotions and humanity of its main character, offering a portrayal that, although Hollywoodian, feels truthful and believable.
Oh, and if you liked it, don’t worry, because we’re quite confident that there will be a second season.

Griselda Blanco Restrepo, also known as the “Cocaine Godmother” or “Black Widow,” was a notorious Colombian drug lord who played a central role in the violent drug wars of Miami during the 1970s and 1980s.
