The Marked Heart is the second season of this Netflix series directed by Leonardo Padrón and Camilo Vega and starring Michel Brown, Ana Lucía Domínguez and Sebastián Martínez. It tells the story of Camila, a woman who, on her wedding day, suddenly suffers a heart attack so she sees her dreams collapse when she realizes she needs a heart transplant to continue living.
Were you wondering where to find a Colombian soap opera about organ trafficking? More than likely not, but here it is!
About the soap opera
The Marked heart reaches its second season after being trashed by critics, so we’ll allow ourselves to shed some light on this lurid topic: it has good photography and is not at all shot in the typical soap opera style.
While it is true that the narrative has all the elements of the genre, on a technical level it is well made and has a good editing rhythm, with a more than neat sound and, as we already mentioned, on a photographic level it is more than acceptable, even remarkable for the genre.
As for the plot, we don’t want to step on that puddle. It’s enough to satisfy an audience looking for simple stories full of tenderness that, more than likely, they will not find in a subject as dark as this one.
Too dark for those looking for light, not David Lynch enough for those looking for darkness. It falls a bit between the two worlds, but in its strange originality lies its (scarce or brave) appeal.
Enjoy.
