Sex Education is a British young adult comedy-drama streaming television series created by Laurie Nunn for Netflix. The series stars an ensemble cast that includes Asa Butterfield, Gillian Anderson, Ncuti Gatwa, Emma Mackey, Connor Swindells, Kedar Williams-Stirling, Alistair Petrie, Mimi Keene, and Aimee Lou Wood. It is rated 16+.
Welcome to Netflix’s cheeky and irreverent series, a show that revolves around sex and where, seemingly, nothing is taken seriously. Or maybe a bit.
Otis, Aime, and Jake will try to adapt to their new and modern high school, where everything seems more in vogue: bicycles, environmentalism, and new classmates. All with the same narrative and sense of humor as in its previous seasons. Meanwhile, Jane is trying to deal with her new role as a mother. The same parameters apply in this new season of Netflix’s most irreverent series.
And, one of the most hilarious.
About “Sex Education”
If you’re not familiar with it, give it a chance, because it’s one of those shows that, for once, manages to bring about a consensus between both critics and audiences: it has a coherent script structure, characters who know how to be funny while also evolving and telling us a story, elegant editing pace, good cinematography, and solid performances.
And besides, why not, it knows how to be funny and totally irreverent while also being respectful at the same time. How does it manage to implement two seemingly opposite features? We suppose it’s through honesty and acknowledging the stupidity of the situation, recognizing that deep down, we’re all pretty foolish during adolescence, and that growing up has only allowed us to disguise it a little. Or not at all.
“Sex Education” is a coming of age comedy about sex, but it also offers a wholesome experience thanks to its clever script, it and manages to be a comedy in truest sense of the word, cracking one joke after another. It knows when to be serious and when to relax, achieving that delicate balance of restrained silliness that is hard to come by in film.
A true success for Netflix, continuing in its fourth season with a new setting that knows how to find a very unique sense of humor when it comes to all things modern.
Enjoy the hilarity!
