The Brothers Sun is a Netflix series created by Brad Falchuk and Byron Wu. It stars Michelle Yeoh, Justin Chien, Sam Li, and Highdee Kuan.
An entertaining series that combines action, lots of action, mafia with touches of comedy. It doesn’t reinvent action comedy, but it has excellent production value, cinematic quality filming, extreme attention to photography, and very good action scenes.
All with a light touch of comedy.
A series that leans more towards action than hilarity.
In terms of entertainment, it’s one of the best things you can watch at the beginning of this year that has just started.
And it starts off well, with quality.
Plot
The boss of Taiwan’s most powerful triad travels to Los Angeles to protect his mother and his clumsy medical student brother.
About the series
In a style similar to Jackie Chan, “The Brothers Sun” is an action comedy that, while not surprising at all, will give you a good time. Eight episodes that are mainly driven by actress Michelle Yeoh, a recent Oscar winner. But despite being the narrative axis around which the story revolves, the action focuses on the relationship between these two brothers and their activities.
We warn you: it’s more of an action series, martial arts, and exhilarating sequences than a comedy. “The Brothers Sun” doesn’t tend to comedy as much as it may seem, and it takes itself and its story more seriously. There are jokes to lighten the mood and entertain, but it’s more of a thriller than a comedy.
An entertaining trip to Los Angeles that, on the other hand, doesn’t aim much higher: a mix between Hollywood and Asian cinema in which the Hollywood rhythm prevails, and it adopts a friendly tone as a series that aims to please the viewer and provide some moments that, although tense, never want to escape from predictability.
Our Opinion
With moments of comedy, but an entertaining action series that, while not surprising at all, provides the expected entertainment and promises.
