Alycia Jasmin Debnam-Carey, an Australian actress, gained recognition for her roles as Lexa in the dystopian science fiction series The 100 (2014–2016; 2020) and Alicia Clark in the horror drama series Fear the Walking Dead (2015–2022). She started her career in 2003 with a short drama film called Martha’s New Coat, directed by Rachel Ward. Her first feature film appearance was in the American disaster film Into the Storm (2014). In 2022, she made her directorial debut with the episode “Ofelia” in the seventh season of Fear the Walking Dead.

From 2003 to 2013, Debnam-Carey began her career by appearing in various short films and television series in Australia. She made her film debut in Martha’s New Coat and later appeared in the drama series McLeod’s Daughters and voiced a character in the animated short film The Safe House. She also played supporting roles in several short films. In 2010, she was cast in the unsold pilot Resistance and appeared in an episode of the Australian drama series Dance Academy.

After completing high school, Debnam-Carey decided to pursue acting in the United States. She participated in the documentary series Next Stop Hollywood, where she competed for roles during the U. . TV pilot season. During this time, she auditioned for The Carrie Diaries but was deemed too young for the role. Instead, she was offered the lead role in the thriller film The Devil’s Hand. Debnam-Carey also became a finalist for the Heath Ledger Scholarship in 2012.

From 2014 to 2022, Debnam-Carey gained significant recognition for her roles in The 100 and Fear the Walking Dead. She appeared in the disaster film Into the Storm and was cast in the pilot Galyntine for AMC. However, the pilot did not proceed to a series. She then guest-starred in the second season of The 100 as Lexa, a role that garnered her widespread acclaim. In 2014, she was announced as part of the main cast for Fear the Walking Dead. Debnam-Carey successfully balanced filming schedules for both shows. Fear the Walking Dead premiered in 2015, and her performance received critical acclaim. She won awards for her role in The 100 and was nominated for the Saturn Awards for her work in Fear the Walking Dead. In 2020, she appeared in the series finale of The 100, portraying a judge who assumed Lexa’s form.

In 2021, it was announced that Debnam-Carey would make her directorial debut in 2022 for an episode of Fear the Walking Dead. She directed the eleventh episode of the seventh season, titled “Ofelia”. Debnam-Carey expressed her interest in directing, which stemmed from a film class she took in school. In May 2022, she announced that the episode “Amina” would be her final appearance on the series.
