Me Time is a comedy starring Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg. It is written and directed by John Hamburg.

A buddy movie that tries to be funny, and fails.

Synopsis

A family-man who can’t find time for himself is finally granted a weekend alone and takes the opportunity to reconnect with his lifelong friend. They have a wild weekend ahead of them.

Movie Review

I am trying my hardest to find something funny about this movie. The first half hour is a slow-burn description of how Sonny, played by the wailing Kevin Hart, leads a tedious family life. There are a couple of slapstick jokes, such as when he steps on the dog’s excrement, and he slips, and falls. Yes, that is not hilarious.

Once we have been force fed his situation and get a couple of glances of his good friend Huck’s carefree lifestyle, we can look forward to an hour of bad jokes.

What the aspirations in making this movie were, other than making money off the names of the actors, is beyond me. If I would want to watch a comedy that plays on the awkwardness of mid-life crises, I would watch ‘The Hangover’ franchise all over again rather than this couple of unfunny characters.
