Burning Betrayal” is a Brazilian movie directed by Diego Freitas and written by Sue Hecker. It stars Giovanna Lancellotti and Leandro Lima.

Do you fancy an erotic thriller? This movie has a bit of both, without leaning excessively on the erotic element – though, it does have its spicy scenes – nor being tremendously suspenseful to qualify as a great thriller. Its peculiarity lies on its comedic touch, bringing about a combination that is quite entertaining. We don’t know which side outweighs the other.

Plot

Babi has a perfect life and has carefully prepared for adulthood, leaving behind her beloved motorcycle and her youthful life. All for a guy, a young and handsome lawyer. Unfortunately, Babi discovers his infidelity and, naturally, gets angry.

About “Burning Betrayal”

“Burning Betrayal” is neither a good movie nor is it entirely bad. It has its premise, which it exploits with special care: a beautiful protagonist surrounded by many very handsome fellas. A movie that does not lack beauty or glamour, and when combined with the suspense, give it a peculiarly distinct touch.

It starts off like a music video, and the movie is full of scenes that could have been taken from a Lady Gaga’s video (Bloody Mary, for example), or something akin. Then it takes a comedic turn, to then proceed to venture into the thriller genre, with the criminal plot that, at that point in the movie, no one can take seriously anymore.

Its strong point: the photography. It has a “high contrast” lighting, reminiscent of those that were popular in the eighties and that became so popular in music videos of that time.

Given the movie’s plot, the performances are not allowed to offer much: the actors maintain their roles and try to look as good looking as possible, and mind you, they always succeed at that.

This is a movie made and designed to be but a pastime, and not much more.

Our opinion

In short, a movie that is neither erotic, nor a thriller, nor a full-on comedy, but which, ultimately – as long as we don’t take life too seriously – is entertaining in its strange, funny, and peculiar potpourri of genres.

It is one of those movies that we won’t remember for a lifetime but that, for its meager duration, made us laugh.
