Jason Statham in Prime Video: The John Wick-Style Beekeeper

The Beekeeper
The Beekeeper

Jason Statham is the kind of actorwhose mere presence defines the entire movie – or perhaps it’s that these productions, crafted specifically for him, can only truly be brought to life by him. Thus, The Beekeeper emerges as a film made by and for Jason Statham, where he once again slips into his signature role to do what he does best: demolish everything in sight, be it through kicks, gasoline barrels, or any object within reach.

The aim is simple: to entertain and to amuse, asking little from the viewer other than to enjoy a Jason Statham spectacle.

Plot Overview

A woman falls victim to a scam and ends up taking her own life, unluckily on the property of a beekeeper who, coincidentally, is Jason Statham. Statham’s character has a unique way of dispensing justice: torching the offenders’ business. What follows is a series of angered responses, escalating vengeance, and eventually, the bad guys attempting to retaliate by targeting his bees, sparking chaos.

About the Film

Entertaining and fun. If such movies aren’t your cup of tea, then you might want to pass, as it might seem like yet another replica of its predecessors – with a plot lacking realism and prioritizing one action scene after another.

Featuring Jeremy Irons in a role as a former CIA director gone rogue, orchestrating evil behind the scenes (or more accurately, his son causes the main havoc). The role doesn’t allow for much range beyond Irons’ physicality and commanding presence. The rest of the film showcases Statham as a John Wick-like figure, this time fueled by vengeance for his bees.

It shares the same sense of justice but lacks the aesthetic finesse of the film led by Keanu Reeves. The Beekeeper is reminiscent of those fun but formulaic ’80s action flicks, so similar that they blend into one another in memory.

The Beekeeper may not be memorable in the traditional sense, but it excels at providing pure entertainment and embraces its unabashedly foolish charm without pretense.

Did anyone really expect Jason Statham to sit idle without engaging in a brawl? It seems battling is what this actor knows best, and he doesn’t disappoint in delivering more of what fans love.
