Strong Girl Nam-soon is a Netflix comedy series created by Baek Mi-kyung, Kim Jung-sik, and Lee Kyung-shik. It is a remake of the popular 2017 MBC drama of the same name. It stars Lee You-mi, Kim Jung-eun, and Kim Hae-sook,
Every week, a new chapter about this girl endowed with extraordinary strength.
It is a fun and silly comedy that solely focuses on making people laugh, embracing its ridiculous and unapologetically stupid side.
Sit back and get ready for some silly laughs because the combination is, at the very least, surprising: a girl who, since she was a baby, could lift tables, jump four meters, and do all sorts of crazy things.
Nam-soon was born with superhuman strength, like her mother but, when her father comes up with the “brilliant” idea of taking his daughter to Mongolia to photograph the stars (who knows what he was thinking), he loses the girl. When she is 25 years old, she decides to return to Korea to find her birth family.
About the series
The series is a succession of gags with a more or less coherent storyline. Once we realize that this is not about cinematic aesthetics, we relax and simply surrender to the sublime pleasure of comedy for the sake of comedy, led by this all-powerful girl and her adventures.
Is it a series for all ages? It is a series for anyone who decides to not take anything seriously for a few minutes each week.
And no, it’s not an “art house” series, but it’s pretty funny.
Lee Yoo-mi, a South Korean actress, began her acting career in 2009. Initially, she played minor roles in various films and television shows. On September 28, 2020, it was announced that Lee had signed an exclusive contract with Varo Entertainment. In 2021, she gained significant recognition beyond South Korea for her role in the popular Netflix series “Squid Game”. As a result of the show’s international success, Lee’s Instagram follower count skyrocketed from 40,000 to over 6. million within a few days. Notably, Lee Yoo-mi became the first Korean actress to receive the “Outstanding Guest Actress” award at the Creative Arts Emmys.
