Surviving Summer is an Australian teen drama television series created by Joanna Werner. The first season premiered on Netflix in 2022, and now season two is available.
The series follows a rebellious New York teen who is exiled to Australia after getting expelled from school. She soon finds herself drawn to the world of surfing and makes waves among a young surfer’s inner circle.
“Surviving Summer” stars Sky Katz as Summer Torres, Kailani Craine as Ari Gibson, Lilliana Ketchman as Poppy Montgomery, Joao Gabriel Marinho as Marlon Sousa, and Savannah La Rain as Bodhi Mercer.
With eight new episodes, “Surviving Summer” is back, as are its protagonists from the previous season. Summer is still madly in love with Ari, but he happens to be preoccupied with another “amour”. Despite that slight imbalance in their friendship, they have a solid bond.
Surfing is still central to the series. So if you are a youngster and enjoy the waves, this series might be to your liking. “Surviving Summer” follows a group of friends who are passionate about surfing, and most scenes are about that. In between you can get glimpses of the personal challenges the characters have to face, such as puppy love, small rivalries amongst friends, as well as resolution of any disagreement.
The tone is kind to its characters, and the tempo is upbeat, counting on good surf scenes, and a great soundtrack.
