This comedy doesn’t aim to go down in cinema history, and it won’t, but it knows its place as a parody, with slightly elaborated and well-constructed characters.
Quiz Lady is primarily one of those movies where if the actors aren’t inspired, everything falls apart. Not only are the actors inspired, but the dialogue and jokes contribute to their inspiration, resulting in an extremely entertaining comedy with many hilarious moments. The film successfully utilizes the talent of its two leads and two supporting actors, with special mention to Jason Schwartzman.
The plot is not as simple as it seems: two very different sisters who, deep down, are more alike than they realize. It’s not a groundbreaking concept in the genre of “family reunion,” but the film successfully approaches it with an unconventional twist.
When it’s time to cry or get sentimental, this comedy takes us to where comedy should take us: to a good joke that breaks the mold.
While it may not stand out in its genre or seduce us, it does have two simply fantastic actresses.
Our Opinion
We came out delighted with these two sisters and their hilarious sense of humor, which made us momentarily forget that the film wasn’t great at its core.
The two of them made us forget our troubles, and that’s exactly what it was all about.
