“As the Crow Flies” is back to the delight of its fans in this series that will enchant you if you like it, but better stay away if you don’t, because it’s a series that unabashedly stays true to itself, with all its good and bad.
“As the Crow Flies” tells the story of a woman who will stop at nothing – lying, trampling over others – to reach the top.
That was the first season, but now the second season has arrived, with a story that reinvents itself and, with the same aesthetic and television arguments, gives viewers exactly what they want.
It’s not the best series on TV, certainly not the most subtle, and the characters are one-dimensional and everything is obvious. However, it possesses an undeniable allure.
About the series
“As the Crow Flies” is one of those shows that is built on the obvious: the characters lie, but they do so without much deceit or hidden games. The viewer is fully aware of everything, and there is no need to search too much in the series to find its meaning: it is what it is and delivers what we ask for in each scene, without any subtleties.
It is a fast-paced series, full of intrigue and betrayals with journalism as the backdrop, with many unexpected plot twists (sometimes also unjustified), but with such rhythm and dynamism that it has managed to hook viewers, perhaps due to its lack of disguise: if a sex scene is needed simply to grab attention, it is included without any problem and the story continues smoothly.
The story has evolved since the first season: now the most experienced hostess has to reinvent herself, while the younger one is at the top but decides to change the format of the show to make it more modern, which turns out to be a success (of course, she studied in New York, and comes up with the idea of following the trending topics, even if they are a true crime – an idea that feels very familiar to us).
The two women will openly compete to reach the top in this war, but where the series behaves with less subtlety is when this actor (former basketball player) named Ibrahim Celikkol appears: yes, he is handsome and we recognize it, and the viewers will certainly notice. He looks equally attractive on his yacht as he does after sleeping with an impressive girl whom he pays little attention to because, of course, he is in love with the (older) hostess.
And if you have time, take a look at the huge TV screen the guy has in his room. We don’t know if this is a metaphor or not, but seeing him like that in swimwear with the TV in the background makes you think.
Our Opinion:
Highly entertaining if you get into this story that, without any disguise whatsoever, gives the viewer what they want, when they want it, and just as they expect.
