Detective Knight: Independence is written and directed by Edward Drake starring Bruce Willis and Lochlyn Munro.

Bruce Willis is back in one of his latest successes, repeating the role that made him famous: a police officer.

This sequel is a thriller with some interesting formulas such as the divided screen (a là Brian De Palma), but the story is more traditional, with lots of hand-held camera, realistic photography and a plot that is always as expected.

About the Movie

We love Bruce Willis and we grew up watching his movies and laughing at his jokes. These last (we repeat)  no longer include jokes and, although he is at the head of the cast, is no longer the main character, he is more of a secondary figure, a star to watch in B Series movies, action thrillers that are rather de-caffeinated like this one, have action scenes that, despite their attempts, is not worth the hour and half of our lives wasted in watching this.

Bruce, the American hero is still a hero, but a little less in these roles with a script that does no justice to the actor and whose film intents don´t hide the generalized lack of ambition in the construction of the characters in clichés and situations that inevitably make this an Eighties style thriller which most people will not appreciate except the greatest fans.

This is a movie that is barely valid for those that are very nostalgic that prolongs the agony of a less and less action film star of the last decdes that we all are sorry for but needs to retire for the reasons we all are aware of.

Our Opinion

If what you want is to watch Bruce, then this second part of Detective Knight is a good choice. If you want to see good movie making, this is not a good choice.

Storyline

Detective James Knight ‘s last-minute assignment to the Independence Day shift turns into a race to stop an unbalanced ambulance EMT from imperiling the city’s festivities. The misguided vigilante, playing cop with a stolen gun and uniform, has a bank vault full of reasons to put on his own fireworks show… one that will strike dangerously close to Knight’s home.
