Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga is an action thriller movie directed by Ajay Singh, starring Yami Gautam and Sunny Kaushal.

A simple thriller that from the first bars does not deceive: it goes absolutely nowhere and does not have the slightest intention of showing us anything new, neither about the human condition nor about cinema.

Entertaining? Well, just about, although if we have to give it the benefit of the doubt from some angle or other, we can do so for the plot twists, which, without being novel, do give it the (almost) necessary zest.

Movie Review

A story that starts out simple, showing a classic Bollywood, and that, little by little, twists towards a less simple thriller, one that is less about “good guys” and “bad guys”, and it does so in an interesting and even entertaining set of character transitions.

Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga (Flight of Thieves) has a very misleading beginning, perhaps too much so. You have to let it flow, let about twenty minutes pass so that the romantic beginning gives way to a thriller that, without being very original, does have changes of pace, plot twists and turns, and becomes interesting as it evolves around the character played by Yami Gautam, the star of the film – an actress who knows what she’s doing and who knows how to shape that ‘two-faced’ character that gives the film all its charm.

It is not going to teach us anything new, it will not be the Bollywood Netflix bombshell that RRR was, but it stands on its own two feet, and, if we’re able to overcome those hesitant first twenty minutes, it is watchable.

A watch-and-forget movie? It’s not meant to leave a mark, so don’t feel guilty about that.
